Firsthand is collaborating with DDPHS to test the power of games for increasing oral health literacy and improving the self-care practices of children. Firsthand received generous support for this effort from the National Institute of Health.

Firsthand is developing customized virtual worlds to support clinical research and treatment. These worlds include SnowWorld being used for pain distraction with burn patients. Other ongoing projects include PTSD therapy and exposure therapy applicaitons such as SpiderWorld.

Firsthand is collaborating with a team of medical researchers investigating VR's potential to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with war veterans. Firsthand is creating virtual environments and hardware interfaces which support the flexible needs and constraints of clinical therapy. Research results will be made available on as clinical trials progress.

Firsthand created a VR training simulation for Professor Kami Hanson. The simulation is being used as part of Weber's dental hygienist training program. Development is ongoing.
Firsthand developed Nimbus Online's consumer research tools, including their flagship virtual shopping application with integrated eye tracking.

Creates computer games for the home entertainment and education market. Firsthand worked with a Disney development team to help enhance its educative value in their software from the ground up.

Firsthand provided Hewlett Packard with training content and design for internal training on Virtual Reality technology delivered company-wide over their intranet.

Firsthand created a VR simulation of a terrorist bus bombing for Dr. Tamar Weiss of the University of Haifa, Israel, to treat victims suffering with PTSD. More information on the bus bombing application and VR for PTSD research can be found here.


Offers organizational training and consulting services to businesses facing large-scale, complex challenges. When creating a training program for Boeing executives on using chaos theory to tackle complex adaptive systems, they tapped Firsthand to create a visceral experience that would illuminate and drive their training home. The result is GroupMind, a flight simulation where 100 managers in space must find their way home.

Flagship course: e-Pro. Firsthand provided instructional design, project direction and management consulting to create and launch this 10 hour online course, which NAR says will "usher in a new era for both NAR and its professional members."

Firsthand assisted RXL in developing the framework for integrating technology into the teaching and learning materials of Malaysia's educational system. Firsthand also took a lead role in managing and coordinating this international project which included nine major corporate entities.
